| Why buy a new car online?
Price, price, price of course! Prices are cheaper online for a variety of reasons - no showroom overheads, bulk discounts, instant access to any nationwide deals, pre-registered or pack cars, imported cars. But isn't it risky? The vast majority of internet suppliers are reliable and honest but unfortunately there are a tiny minority who do give it a bad name by employing shady practices or providing misleading information - read our other page for information on buying safely online - click here Warranty or servicing issues? Provided it is a UK supplied car then it should come with the normal manufacturers warranty which will be valid at any franchised dealership across the UK - in most cases the dealer would simply invoice the manufacturer and therefore they do make money out of it. The same applies to servicing. Some salesmen will try to imply that they won't be keen to work on your car if you don't buy it from them - they know that is not allowed and the manufacturer would take a very dim view! Overall In general buying online is convenient and will provide you with a great price with virtually no drawbacks - providing you take all the normal precautions associated with car buying. A Last Word On Imports Although these are far less common nowadays due to unfavourable exchange rates there are stil a few deals now and then. Don't necessarily be put off by a car being an import as these can very often be built to UK specification and although may only have a two year warranty you can purchase extra years at a relatively small cost. Price has to be good though as it's possible the car may not be worth as much when you come to sell if you sell to a dealer (private selling is best as buyers may not worry so much). |
